An Ar-filled glovebox from MBRAUN is used for the electrolyte synthesis and the battery assembly. Both lithium and sodium coin cell batteries (type 2025) are assembled in here, making use of Li- or Na-metal as the counter electrode.

 

Battery electrodes are prepared by coating inks onto current collectors, making use of a coating machine. After preparing slurries, this machine is used to uniformly spread the slurry onto an aluminum or a copper foil. These electrodes are then pressed and cut into disks before they are transferred into the glove box.

 

For battery and electrochemical testing three Xinwei potentiostats are used. Those tests include methods such as Pulse Charging/Discharging, Internal DC Resistance measurement, Hybrid Pulse Power characterization, and standard Charge/Discharge tests.
