The “Joint Research Institute for Advanced Power Sources for Electric Vehicles (IAPS)" between Technische Universität München (TUM) and Tsinghua University (THU) was established in 2010 in order to institutionalize the cooperation between TUM and THU in the area of Electromobility, and to bundle the corresponding activities in the different departments of the Universities. IAPS has built up a platform for networking between industry and research in China and Germany.


 

26.04.2010 Technische Universität München and Tsinghua University signed the agreement for establishing a joint research institute. 

On April 26th, Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann, TUM President, and Prof. Hu Heping, THU Council Chairman, signed an agreement and announced the establishment of TUM - THU Joint Research Institute for Advanced Power Sources for Electric Vehicles (IAPS). The signing ceremony took place at THU Beijing, in the presence of Dr. Horst Seehofer, Bavarian Minister-President, Dr. Michael Schäfer, German Ambassador for China, Prof. KANG Kejun, THU Vice President and Prof. KANG Feiyu, Vice Dean of the Graduate School at THU Shenzhen. The joint institute aims to bring both TUM and THU with relevant industries on the topic of electric mobility.

The establishment of IAPS has important significance in promoting applications of advanced power sources in electric car industry and boosting development of new energy technologies.

The latest IAPS workshop took place at the Beijing campus of Tsinghua University on the 20th of November 2014.
